Beverly Mae Johansen, 88, of Iowa City passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Lantern Park Specialty Care, Coralville, Iowa.

Beverly was born on April 29th, 1928 in Racine, Wisconsin, daughter of Chris and Ethel (Hansen) Clausen. She graduated from Washington Park High School in Racine, Wisconsin and went on to attend Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. Beverly was a devoted wife and mother. She worked for Manpower Career Resources for 20 years and was awarded "employee of the year" during her service there. She loved every minute spent with her family and also enjoyed time playing golf and bridge.

At Dana College Beverly met Willis “Bill” Johansen. The two fell in love and were married August 31, 1950 at her home church in Racine, Wisconsin.

Beverly was very involved in the church. She sang solos and sang in the church choir for over 20 years and was active in Bible studies and many women’s activities. After moving to Iowa City in 1993 she became a member of Parkview Church. Beverly remained active there attending church services regularly, participating in Bible studies, and helping fold bulletins. Beverly knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was ready to spend eternity with Him.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband, Bill Johansen of Iowa City, IA; her children, Brad (Patricia Hammer) Johansen of Roseville, CA, Barbara (Dr. Erling) Larson of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren Kristen (Brett) Cimorelli of Dallas, TX, Matt Larson (Chelsey Thomsen) of Denver, CO; great-granddaughter Amelia Cimorelli of Dallas, TX; her sister Jean (Lloyd) Johansen and nephew, Judd Johansen of Coralville, IA. and niece Jann ( Dr. Lanny ) Kampfe of Iowa City, IA; great nephew Kevin (Tammy) Kampfe and their children Kaylie, Caleb, and Eli Kampfe of Hugo, MN. and great niece Katelyn (Thad) Lane and their children Jeremiah, Matthias, and Joanna Lane of Coralville, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Kevin Ahern.

A memorial service will be held at Parkview Church in Iowa City on Friday May 12th at 2:30 pm with visitation 30 minutes before. Inurnment will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Parkview Church or a favorite charity.
