James R. “Jim” Eckrich, 70, lifelong resident of Cosgrove, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at home.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday March 28,2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cosgrove. Reverend Edmond Dunn will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A parish wake service will begin at 7:00 pm

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to The Jim Eckrich Memorial Fund.

Jim was born March 13, 1947 in Iowa City, the son of Francis “Frank” and Marguerite “Mag” (Graper) Eckrich. He graduated from Clear Creek Amana High School in 1966 and dedicated his work to the family farm his entire life.

Jim is survived by his brother Larry Eckrich (Penny) of Cosgrove; nieces and nephews, David Eckrich, Douglas Eckrich (Amy), Dennis Eckrich (Melissa), Andrew Eckrich (Courtney) and Amanda Simpson (Chris); great nieces and nephews, Jenna, Jared, Adam, Abby, Kendra, Jace, Bailey, Kane , Brinley, Bryson, Kendall, and Drew.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Steve Eckrich and a great-nephew, Oxen Eckrich.
