D. Glen Donner, 88, of Hills, formerly of Eldora and Steamboat Rock area, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at Atrium Village, Hills.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 10 to 10:45 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM with Father Mike Spiekermeier celebrating. The family invites guests to join them in the social hall following the mass for a luncheon.

Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eldora, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eldora.

Glen was born June 17, 1928 in Eldora, IA, Hardin County, the son of Daniel and Helen (Huber) Donner. He was a lifelong farmer. Glen was united in marriage to Ruth Dole on May 24, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eldora. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and choir, and the Knights of Columbus. One of Glen’s greatest highlights was taking his grandkids fishing.

Glen is survived by his wife, Ruth; three children, Susan Rhoads (Tom Dobrynski) of Carlsbad, CA, John Donner (Deanna) of Marion, IA, and Vicki Harkins of West Branch, IA; four grandchildren, Matthew (Devin), Ryan (Aubrey), Courtney (Ben), and Kat (Billy); and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Kalyn.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Becky; brother, Jerry Donner; and sister-in-law, Betty Donner.
