Dr. Helen (Vogel) Brady, 88, of Iowa City, the most incredibly intelligent, gorgeous and generous mom passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Church, Iowa City. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Red Cross, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, The Leukemia Association, The University of Iowa Foundation, or any animal charity.

Helen worked as a Clinical Psychologist at University of Iowa Counseling services for twenty-eight years. She truly felt it was an honor to assist each and every student she encountered.
She was a talent in everything she attempted. She could build a house, tackle a daunting physics problem, fly an airplane and sew my homecoming outfit.

She was a tough mom who sent me kicking and screaming to an undergraduate Catholic girls University where I did not regret a single day of her decision. She expected nothing less than the best.

But, most importantly, she was an advocate for civil rights for all humans regardless of the creed, gender, race or socioeconomic status.

She will be missed tremendously by the professional community, friends and the rest of us that call her family including all her canine and equine friends.

She is survived by her brother, Don (Marlene); sister, Joan; and many nieces and nephews.
