Iowa Citian Dies in Plane Crash
Donna Miller is Victim
An Iowa Citian who had been living recently in Cedar Rapids was one of the 30 passengers aboard a jetliner plane which crashed in Lake Michigan Monday Night.
Mrs. Donna Miller, the former Donna Rarey who grew up here, was returning on the last leg of a two-month sales tour for a beauty preparations firm in Cedar Rapids. The mother of two children, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rarey of Highway l North. Donna observed her 23rd birthday Monday.
Mrs. Rarey was at the airport in Cedar Rapids to meet her daughter when she learned the plane was missing. The Rareys’ daughter had called Monday and asked her mother to meet her at the airport in Cedar Rapids. One more flight after the ill-fated Flight 389 from New York would have brought Mrs. Miller to the Cedar Rapids airport.
The flight she intended to take after arrival in Chicago would have brought her into Cedar Rapids at ll:38 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Miller, a sales technician for Fashion Tress, Inc. had been on a two-month national tour. She gave demonstrations and clinics for beauticians in representing her firm.
She was married to John A. Miller of 710 Kimball Avenue. The Millers are 1960 graduates of Iowa City High School. Married in 1960, they had been divorced more than a year ago. Mrs. Miller’s two daughters, Shawn (4) and Kelly (3) lived with her in Cedar Rapids.
