Ken Rybarczyk, 72, of Coralville, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Pioneer Park in Lone Tree.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 23rd at 12:00 pm at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, in Coralville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Coralville funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Pheasants Forever or Iowa City Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.
Born November 27, 1943 in Chicago, the son of Edward & Genevieve (Pulnar) Rybarczyk, Ken grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois and graduated from Downers Grove High School. He received his Pharmacy Degree from Ferris State University (then Ferris State College) in Big Rapids, Michigan.
Ken married Connie Scholl on September 17, 1966 in Chicago. The couple moved to Iowa City so that Ken could continue his education at the University of Iowa. He accepted a position as pharmacist in Cedar Rapids at 42nd Street & Centerpoint Road - where he worked for several retail pharmacies, including Revco, Reliable and Osco Drug for over 30 years. Ken also served as a pharmacist at the Amana Pharmacy in Main Amana. He retired in 2012.
He very much enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. Ken also was an ardent supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, as well as many Chicago sports teams – The Bears, the Cubs, the Bulls and the Blackhawks.
Survivors include Ken’s son and his family, Matt and Annette Rybarczyk of LeClaire and their daughter Daniela, also of LeClaire, a cousin and his family, Dan and Sharon Cresta of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, his beloved yellow lab Faith and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Connie.
