Beginning at 6 pm there will be a time of public sharing, an open mic and all this will conclude with a prayer. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory.
Dennis was born September 5, 1950, in Iowa City the son of Robert H. and Theresa A. (Klein) Jeter. Attending Iowa City Schools, Dennis graduated from City High School with the Class of 1969. After high school he moved to Colorado where he attended school for a time before returning to Iowa City to work in the family business, Plamor Lanes & Kegler Lounge. He worked here for most of his life. Blessed with good humor and the ability to tell a story, he had all the qualifications of a great bartender. He might not have remembered your name, but he remembered what you would be drinking! Denny was an avid Green Bay Packers and Hawkeye fan to the end, in fact his life celebration will follow the Hawks beating Rutgers! This was one of the many things Denny shared with his family, along with fishing trips, bowling and family vacations. He was skilled at woodworking, some might say a bit of a perfectionist, but for sure one that thought every project should be a bit bigger that the original plan!
Denny had an open heart, a giving spirit, gentle and kind; often known by many as a big teddy bear. He always dreamed of owning a Harley motorcycle, but his Honda 350 provided many years of miles and memories. He will be remembered and cherished by many, but he would want you to smile and tell a good story as you think of him!
His family includes his wife, Sharon; their children, Ryan Morris –Jeter (Jessie Mae), Jenni Jeter (John Barry) and Swen Larson (Kelly); grandchildren, Sage, Iris, Ingrid, Carlin, Nora, Will, Drew and Haley; brothers and their wives, Dean and Jan Jeter, and David and Pati Jeter; He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Denny used to toast with this,
“Here’s to you, here’s to me, the best of friends we’ll always be. And if we ever disagree, to hell with you, and here’s to me.”
