Mrs. Harriett Amelia Faires, 72, long time resident of West Liberty died at 3 a.m. Monday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Thompson, in Tipton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Snider funeral home at West Liberty with burial in Oakridge cemetery.

Born June 25, 1876, near Springdale, she received her education in the Scattergood school near West Liberty. She was married to Elmer Faires in August, 1898, and he preceded her in death in 1946. She was a member of the Methodist church, Rebekah lodge and Royal Neighbors. Surviving are her daughter, two grandsons, James and William Thompson; two brothers, William Markel, Iowa City, and John Markel in California; and three sisters, Mrs. Ida Eustick and Mrs. Clara Hall, both of Coralville and Mrs. Calla Stonebreaker, Independence.
