Carolyn “Carrie” June Louvar, 69, of Solon, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

A private memorial service will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Solon.

Carrie was born on June 5, 1947 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the daughter of Chiles William Mason and Mary Ethel (Vrchoticky) Mason. She was a 1966 graduate of Solon High School. Carrie was united in marriage to Robert Louvar on December 31, 1966 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City. She worked for The University of Iowa for 43 years as an administrative assistant, Division of interdisciplinary Programs, African American Studies, Classics, and Women’s Studies.

Carrie enjoyed many things through her amazing life. She loved camping, fishing, swapping fishing stories, planting flowers, gardening, bird watching, canning, and cooking with her family. “Carrie's kitchen” was always open regardless of the hour. She enjoyed treasure hunting at Goodwill and taking care of animals in need. Her biggest love was time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Carrie will be remember for her smiles and laughter, big heart, kind soul and her love of family. Carrie always put others first and would drop everything in moments notice to be there for others. She always gave from her heart to strangers and all that knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.

Carrie is survived by her husband, Robert of 50 years; three children, Mat (Nikki) Louvar and their daughters Morgan and Kira, Melissa Louvar(Tim Wigger) of Solon, IA; and Andy (Lauren) Louvar and their daughter Everlee of Ely, IA; four siblings; Billy Mason of Battlefield, MO; Juanita Mason of Riverside, IA; Mary (Steve) Clark of Solon, IA; Marsha (Jim) Donahue of St Marys, IA; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Carrie was proceeded in death by her parents and grandson Everett.
