Early in his life, Jim’s parents were divorced, and Jim was raised in a loving household by his mother, Grandmother Kate Clark and Uncle Bert Clark. Jim, his mother and step-father (Frank Poggenpohl) moved to Iowa City while Jim was in high school, where he graduated from City High School in the class of 1950. He began his lifelong business, McFall’s Auto Trim, in 1955 where he enjoyed working and pursuing his automotive passions until his recent illness. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Iowa Street Rod Association, a member of numerous car clubs/associations over the years, and a sponsor of Mid-West Deuces Association.

He loved sharing his car interests. His upholstery shop was a gathering spot for his car buddies as well as his family. Jim and Joy had three children, Debbie, Diana and Jeff.
