Jay L. VanDyke, 80, formerly of Iowa City, died March 11, 2016 in Winterset, Iowa.

Jay was born Feb. 6, 1935, in Pike County, Ohio. On May 9, 1991 he married Patricia Dubler in Coralville at the EUB Methodist Church. He worked in Ohio until January of 1974 when he transferred to the University of Iowa’s Child Health Specialties Clinic.

His family includes his sons, Greg and wife, Julie of Winterset, IA, Michael and wife, Rhonda of Bettendorf, IA, Jerry and wife, Mary of Louisville, KY; step-son, Mark Dubler and wife, Renee of Butler, OH; siblings, Gerald VanDyke, Joan Brickley, Jewel Hodo, Dean and Dale VanDyke, and Janice Squeo; grandchildren and extended family members.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary VanDyke; wife, Patricia; and siblings, Harold and Gene VanDyke and Joy Christianson.

In accordance with Jay’s wishes, no public services will be held; family services will be held locally and burial will take place near Piketon, Ohio. Memorials in his name may be directed to the Holden Cancer Center at the University of Iowa. Memories and condolences may be shared with his family at www.gayandciha.com.
