Nelda M. Eden was born February 22, 1932, in Viola, Iowa; daughter of Russell and Mildred (Moyer) Eden. She attended school at Rollins School in Central City. In adolescence Nelda often helped care for her four younger sisters. On November 24, 1962, she was united in marriage to Edward L. “Eddie” Kiracofe at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they farmed near North Liberty for many years. On the farm she worked alongside Eddie; driving tractors, tending to livestock and raising cattle of her own.

She enjoyed life on the farm, loved to garden, growing flowers and even enjoyed mowing. When not working outside, she would enjoy walks, embroidering, time spent with her pets and especially the time she spent with her sisters.

Her family includes her sisters, Josephine Balvin of Cedar Rapids, Elva Herman (Myron) of Washington, Bonnie Kubik (Eddie) of Walker, Judy Soukup of Marion, Rachel Willis (Dean) of Marion, Juanita Eden of Framingham, MA and Becky Vlcko (Steve) of Cedar Rapids and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie in 2004; brother, Calvin Eden; sister, Velma Eden and brothers-in-law, Ed Peters, Robert Soukup and Allen Balvin.

Nelda’s family would also like to acknowledge the loving care and support provided by the staff of Village Ridge in Marion and Hospice Compassus.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Nelda’s family and her services.
