Melissa J. Nerad, 52, of Coralvlille, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Melissa was born April 24, 1963 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Jane (Killion) Stalf. Melissa grew up in the Quad Cities and graduated in 1981 from Alleman Catholic High School in Rock Island, Illinois.

Melissa attended cosmetology school, worked as a buyer for Von Maur and later earned an AA degree from Kirkwood Community College. She worked as a dental assistant at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry for more than 20 years.

Melissa met David Nerad through a family friend and they married on October 5, 1985. They have one son. Melissa was passionate about cooking and enjoyed sharing her meals with family and friends. She also loved celebrating the seasons, Fall being her favorite, and exploring the small towns of NE Iowa and Wisconsin, especially Door County.

Survivors include her husband Dave, 54 of Coralville; her son Tyler, 22 of Coralville;
mother in law, Betty Nerad of University Heights, IA, father in law, Vernon Nerad of Iowa City/Marshalltown; sisters, Christine & Gary French of Davenport IA and
Betsy Bousselot of Naples FL and a brother, Steve & Linda Stalf of Rock Island, IL;
brothers and sisters in law, Kevin and Nan Nerad of Iowa City, Brian Nerad of University Heights, IA and Lynette Nerad and life partner Donald Campbell of Highlands Ranch CO and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 7th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A rosary will preceed the visitation at 3:30pm. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 8 at 10:30am at Grace Community Church in North Liberty, followed by burial services at Oakhill Cemetery in Coralville.
