Gerald A. Walkup, 91, of Coralville, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, January 4, 2015, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City where visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday. Burial with military honors will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

Gerald was born June 12, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Perry and Alcie (Baker) Walkup. Being raised in Marion, he attended and graduated from school there. During WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. On March 27, 1954, he was united in marriage to Donna Moss. The couple made their home in Iowa City at this time where they have lived in the area since. For nearly 30 years Gerald worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, retiring in 1991. Gerald was a member of the DAV and VFW for Veterans, and also a member of both the state and national groups of the Trappers Association. He enjoyed many things in life, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping; anything to do with Native American History, and most of all, his family, he loved them dearly!

His family includes his wife, Donna; their three children, Constance Walkup, Robert Walkup, and Dennis Walkup.
