Joyce C. Armstrong, 81, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26th, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10-11 am on Tuesday, December 29th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at St. Mary’s. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.

Joyce was born on June 12, 1934 in Iowa City, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Hesser) Parizek. She grew up in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City High. On June 2, 1973, Joyce married Wesley Armstrong.

For over 40 years, Joyce lived in California, working at General Dynamics for 27 years and the Pamona Adult School for 11 years, until 2003, at which point she moved back to Iowa.
Joyce was a wonderful mother who was loved dearly by her family. She enjoyed crocheting, and playing cards – especially euchre and bridge. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children: Beth (Don) Louvar of North Liberty, IA, Teresa (Ed) Messimer of Tiffin, IA, Tom (Julie) Hebl of Corrales, NM, and Pamela Brown of Adalanto, CA; a sister Jan Stratton of Iowa City, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Dan Hebl, a sister Nancy Rawson, and a granddaughter Jennifer Brown.
