Edward Charles Pechous, 78, of rural Iowa City passed away peacefully on December 18, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday, December 22nd at St. Patrick Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 21st from 3-7 pm at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, where a parish rosary will be recited at 2:30 pm. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Ed was born on October 14, 1937 to George and Celeste (Lynch) Pechous. He married Marilyn Warren on July 30, 1960 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hills, IA.

Ed attended Country School and graduated from St. Patrick High School in Iowa City. Ed served a 2-year tour in the United States Army. He forewent college and dedicated his life to the love of the farm. He farmed in Johnson, Louisa, and Washington Counties. He also owned and operated Riverside Grain & Feed, and was a partner in Ed & Mike Inc. Ed was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Church, and also belonged to the Moose, American Legion, and VFW. In later years he enjoyed spending winters in Florida and could be proudly found at his grandchildren’s school events.

Ed is survived by his wife Marilyn, his 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Eddie and Kyla of Iowa City, IA and their children Zach and Nick; Anne and Tim Klein of Iowa City, IA and their children Robert and Angela; Beth and Rob Wick of Iowa City, IA and their children Katie, Jenny, Megan, and Alec; and Andy and Tanya of Greenfield, IN and their children Andrew, and Jackson. He is further survived by brothers Dr. Paul (Nancy) Pechous of Dubuque, IA; Ray (Mary) Pechous of Iowa City, IA; a sister, Margaret (Tom) Goss of Lenox, MA; and brother-in-law Jerry Irving of Iowa City, IA as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Ellen “Nicky” Irving.
