Wayne E. Duffy, 76, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, December 15th, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics from complications of a stroke.

His family will greet friends on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to The Wayne Duffy Memorial Fund.

Wayne was born September 22, 1939 in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Raymond & Gayle (Humphrey) Duffy. Growing up in Iowa City, he graduated from University High School.

He worked as a heavy equipment Operating Engineer on local and regional projects
and was a life long member of International Union of Operating Engineers.

He married Lois “Peach” Duffy on March 5th, 1962. Wayne enjoyed gambling, fishing, taking drives and gardening. He loved to grow large pumpkins for his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Janene Duffy of Oxford and Janette Duffy (Jeff Sass) of North Liberty; a sister, Rita Jensen of North Liberty and 3 grandchildren, Breyanne Duffy, James Stewart and Dalton VanBeek (Deyanira) and 3 great-grandchildren, Taeshauna, Carmine and Asher.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and dedicated nurses at the Palliative Care unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
