Marcia Grey, 67, a longtime resident of Fairfield, died Sunday, November 29th at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Marcia was born October 27, 1948, in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of John and Faye Armstrong Grey. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1970 with an education degree in French and German. While in college, Marcia was a member of the gymnastics team.

Marcia was employed by the Morrissey Law Offices in Fairfield. She had begun phased retirement in September.

Marcia was a quiet, gentle and generous soul who loved music, movies, reading, and her beloved cats, Antonia and Mallory. She was an avid supporter of the Olympics (especially gymnastics and ice skating) and a dedicated advocate of animal rights. Through her love of music, Marcia met and corresponded with many friends throughout the country. She was very creative and particularly enjoyed expressing herself through the collages she created in her weekly art class. One of her greatest passions was traveling to sunny beaches and open water.

Survivors include her two sisters, Joanne Grey and Kelli Grey (Kate Aspengren), both of Iowa City and her sweetheart, Evans Beltran of Fairfield. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering to remember Marcia will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, December 12 at Phoenix Rising Hall in Fairfield, Iowa.

The Atma Shanti Yagya will be performed for Marcia on Monday, December 14th by Pundit Parthasarathi Vempati from India at the Sri Devi Mandir, 800 W. Burlington, Fairfield, Iowa. The yagya will be from 9:30 AM to11:30 AM. Please bring one piece of fruit(s) and flower(s).
The Atma Shanti Yagha is a traditional Vedic ritual that helps the departed soul continue their eternal journey in peace and harmony. Friends and well-wishers are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Heavenly Pet Sanctuary or Noah’s Ark Animal Foundation (both of Fairfield) or a charity of your choice.
