Steven Pryce Williams, 61 of Iowa City went to be with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, after a valiant fight with brain cancer, with his wife by his side every step of the way.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, October 31, 2015, at the River Community Church in Iowa City, with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Steve’s memory. Steven was born May 6, 1954, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, the son of Carol (Weber) and Claude Williams. He attended Iowa City Schools, Mark Twain Elementary, Southeast Junior High, and West High School, graduating in 1973. Following high school, Steve was employed by Randall’s Grocery Store in Coralville for 17 years and then began a career as a Catering Specialist at the Waterfront HyVee that spanned over 24 years as he was still employed with them.

On March 17, 2001, he was united in marriage to Linda M. Caracciolo at the River Community Church in Iowa City. Steve was passionate about his love for the Lord, his family, many friends and family pets. He enjoyed working with the public and his co-workers. He sincerely care about each and every one that he would see daily. Steve personalized HyVee’s slogan, “Where there’s a helpful smile in every aisle”. Steve’s smile was not only sincere, but also contagious to all around him!

Steve enjoyed many things in life, starting with sports. He was an avid runner, competing in many marathons over the years; a lifelong Chicago Cubs Fan, strong supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved camping, fishing, playing board games (a bit competitive though) drag racing his Dodge Super Charged Challenger and at times getting in a bit of mischief! With Linda at his side, they enjoyed contemporary Christian music concerts and traveling. Steve was fun, kind hearted, a true gentleman, generous and a man of integrity. Many loved this man and respected him for who he was, simply Steve.

His family includes his wife, Linda; daughters, Stephanie Williams ( Eboni Nash); granddaughters, Malaika and Mystique; step-daughter, Jamie Overholt (Nelson); grandson, Caleb Westen; Steve’s parents, Claude and Carol Williams; his sister, Christine (Williams) Allen; Niece, Jeni Beas (Johnny) and their children, Zoe, Cruz, and Gabriel; Nephew, Jesse Allen (Laurie) and their children, Evan and Olivia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by Linda’s family, her parents, Matt and Shirley Caracciolo; her sister, Lisa McCoy (Ken) and their daughter, Tara Caracciolo; her brother, Matt Caracciolo (Mirna) and his son, Juan.

Steve was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Gene Allen, Allen Caracciolo and nephew, Joel Allen.
