Donald R. FitzGibbon, 62, died peacefully Monday at UIHC.
Funeral Services will be at 2PM, Friday, October 9th at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Father Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 2 PM. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Don was born September 5, 1953 in Aurora, IL, the son of Donald F. and Mildred Hughes FitzGibbon. He graduated from West Aurora High School and the University of Illinois. On June 20, 1980 Don married Sue White in Oswego, IL.
Don was an executive with Farmers Insurance for over 30 years. Don and his family lived in California for 23 years, moving to Iowa City in 2009.He loved the “Fighting Illini” and was a devoted supporter of the Chicago White Sox, the Bears, the Bulls and the Blackhawks. Don enjoyed music, especially rock and roll oldies.
Don is survived by his wife Sue and their daughters , Janna and Kathleen “Kat”, all of Iowa City; his mother-in-law, Betty I. White of Aurora, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents.
