Janice M. Maier, 80, of Iowa City died peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at the home of her daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015, at St. Thomas More Catholic church in Coralville, with burial to follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Janice was born September 25, 1934, in Drakesville, Iowa, to Arch and Vivian Morford. She attended high school in Troy and Lone Tree, later receiving her GED from City High School.
Janice was united in marriage to John Maier on December 28, 1953. Janice spent her life farming side by side with John. Janice loved to dance, camp, mow her yard, and work with her livestock. She attended the Iowa State Fair every year for the last 30, including this past August. She was a member of St. Thomas More, Eagles 695, and The Women of Moose Lodge.

Her family includes her daughter, Judy Stimmel (Steve); son, Bill (Denise); grandchildren, Ellen Robinson, Scott Stimmel, and Tom Maier; great-grandchildren, Chason, Gentry, Lane, Charlotte, and Easton; sisters, Joy Kaefring (Ray) and Jane Gent; and several nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Linda; grandson, Austin; brother, Keith; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Kenneth Yeries; and brother-in-law, Dick Gent
