Robert E. Eden, 93, longtime Johnson County farmer, died peacefully Wednesday, August 26, 2015 surrounded by family at Mercy Hospice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hills, IA with Father Michael Spiekermeier officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7PM. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, Swank Church or Atrium Village. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service.

Robert was born July 10, 1922 in Lone Tree, the son of Charles Thomas and Hilma Benson Eden. On November 25, 1961 Bob married Elaine Sedlacek at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City.

Bob loved raising the animals; dogs, pigs, cattle and the numerous farm cats. Throughout all the changes in his life he kept his sense of humor. He was always giving a compliment, that was how he was. He always tried to make you feel better. He was a man that rarely if ever spoke unkindly or had harsh thoughts toward anyone.

Bob was a member of the Johnson County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include five siblings, Charles Hubert (Irmgard) Eden of Fredericksburg ,VA, Marion Eden of Hills, William (Delores) Eden of Iowa City, Betty Kirchner of Iowa City and J.Lavon (David) Kirkpatrick of Houston,TX; double Cousins ; Wendell (Betty) Eden of Washington, IA, Beverly (Don) Felt of Desert Hot Springs, California and Margaret Eden of Sun City, Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife Elaine; his brother Carroll; his sister Florence Millsap; brothers and sisters in-law, Elma Eden, Don Kirchner, Carolyn Eden and Ken Millsap; and double cousin Don Eden.
