Matt was born August 17, 1954 in Salzburg, Austria, the son of John Manton Daine, Jr. and Patricia Tucker Daine, where his father was stationed during the Korean War. After returning to the United States the family settled in Iowa City. Matt attended Iowa City schools where he was an avid athlete, excelling in football, wrestling and baseball for the Little Hawks. Matt graduated from Iowa City High School and attended the University of Iowa. He later transferred to Arizona State University where he received his bachelor’s degree.

Matt began his business career with Dun and Bradstreet in Tempe, Arizona, then transferred to Houston in 1979 where he continued his career with Dun and Bradstreet for 15 years. For the past eight and a half years, Matt has enjoyed his employment in sales for Morris Export Services. In 1979, he met the love of his life, Pam Rougon -- they were married in 1983 and shared 31 wonderful years together.

Matt had a fun-loving personality that showed in his relationships with family, friends and coworkers. He loved a good joke and sharing his humor with others. He especially valued his close and long-lasting childhood friendships with his “Iowa Buddies”. They always made the time to spend together at their annual Southern Hawkeye Invitational Golf Tournament in Houston, Texas, as well as fishing trips to Canada.

Matt’s Higher Power and many friendships helped carry him through life’s challenges. He and Pam will always be grateful for their caring and support.

Matt was a caring and loving husband, son, brother and friend.

Survivors include his wife, Pam; his mother, Patricia Daine; his sister, Deborah Daine (Marc) Bennet; loving mother and father-in-law; three sisters and brother-in-law; and many loving cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Manton Daine, Jr.
