Patricia B. Geissel, 77, died peacefully Wednesday, May 20th at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, following an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Inurnment will be in the Trinity Columbarium.

Pat was born November 20, 1937 in New York City. On June 21, 1958, Pat married Dr. Leonard Geissel, Jr. She received a bachelors degree from Lebanon Valley College and her Masters in Social Work from Temple University.

Pat moved to Iowa City in 1994. She was the center director for Lutheran Social Services, and later a social worker in adult psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, retiring in 2007.

Pat was a longtime active member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her three children: Nat Geissel (Lisa Brewster) of North Liberty, Georgia Geissel of Iowa City, and William (Audrey) Geissel of Milwaukee; five grandchildren: Rachel, Rebecca, Cole, Benjamin, and Lauren; her sisters: Alice Curtis (John Frank), Elizabeth Curtis Swain (George Swain, Jr.), Mary Curtis Meacham (Jack), and Sara Curtis Hopkins (John Ballod); and her half-brother, Reverend Marston Price.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church or Shelter House.
