Steven M. Sweeting, 65, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2013, while outside enjoying the sunshine and weather with his best buddy "Mack".

Gravesides services will be held at 11am Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 am Thursday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, until leaving for the cemetery for the services. Steve was born in Iowa City Iowa on December 10, 1947, to Harold D. Sweeting and Mary E. (Pate) Sweeting. Steve's interests and hobbies included coin collecting, genealogy, hunting and fishing, and anything that included wildlife and outdoor activities. He was most known by family and friends for his extensive "stories" and joking attitude. Steve was married on August 19th 1968 to Judy K. Wonick. Steve and Judy were both graduates of Iowa City High School. They lived in various small towns surrounding the Iowa City area including Coralville, West Liberty and West Branch before venturing west to Wyoming then returning to the area by way of Minnesota. Steve began his working career by following his hobby of cars. His first "real" job was Old Capital Motors where he worked as a mechanic and body repair technician. After a few years he moved on to smaller companies under Enron Company as a pipeline technician. This career is what led to moves to other states. He retired after more than 30 years of service with Enron. Steve spent his retirement doing what he really loved most, hunting, fishing, wildlife watching and spending time with his best friend "Mack" the dog.

Steve’s family includes his wife of 45 years Judy Sweeting; daughter, Wendy Aldrich and her husband Randy, and their children Jacob and Owen; son, Casey Sweeting and wife Tracy and their children Alex and Gabriel; Steve also leaves behind "Mack" who never left his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents and special friends, "Boo","Belle","Sam",and "Lewy".
