Dennis S. “Pinky” Hamilton, age 62 of Hills, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries received in a car accident.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills, with the Reverend Louis Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial Donations can be made in “Pinky’s” memory to Hills First Responders. Online condolences may be sent for Pinky’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com.

Dennis Stephen Hamilton was born October 3, 1941 in Iowa City the son of C. Bernard and Florence (Kelleher) Hamilton. He attended and graduated from Riverside Community Schools. Served in the United States Army during the onset of the Vietnam War. On July 30, 1966, he married Margaret A. Heitzman in Hills. For over thirty years, Pinky worked for Jaydon, retiring as a District Manager. He later worked for HyVee at the Waterfront Drive location here in Iowa City for over five years.

Pinky was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills, Hills Community Club, former member of the Hills Volunteer Fire Department, Cub Scout Leader, and a faithful member of the Casey’s Coffee Club. To those who knew Pinky, you knew a man that could bring a smile to your face with his quick wit and great jokes; you knew a man that lived for the Iowa Hawkeye’s, and just a good man to know!

His family includes his wife, Margaret; two sons and their wives, Tom and Sandy Hamilton of Davenport, and Jay and Alicia Hamilton of Freemont, NE; three grandchildren, Madeline, Jackson, and Collin Hamilton; three brothers, Jack Hamilton of West Branch, Chuck and his wife, Betty Hamilton of Cedar Rapids, and Bill and his wife, Connie Hamilton of Iowa City.
