Ted J. Rote, of 1232 Oakes Drive in Iowa City, ended his life on Friday, January 16, 2004.

A Tribute to his life will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City with Reverend Paul Akin officiating. His family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Rote Children’s Memorial Fund.
(Sunday parking will be available for the memorial service on Wednesday)

Ted was born August 16, 1967, the son of Joe & Mary Therese (Maher) Sturm. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1986 and later attended the University of Iowa and Kirkwood Community College. He married Dulcey Moore on June 30, 1990 at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Ted worked for Harris Co. / Iowa Construction Group. He has been a life long Iowa City resident.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, Ducks Unlimited, Habitat For Humanity and the Home Builders Association of Iowa City. Ted coached T-Ball and was a Cub Scout Den Leader. He loved to boat, golf, snow ski and hunt and recently had begun to enjoy fishing.
Ted was known for making people laugh and always maintaining an on-going home improvement project. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a great Daddy, husband and friend.

Survivors include his wife Dulcey and his children, Hailey, Dylan & Owen; his parents, Joe & Mary Therese Sturm of Iowa City; two sisters, Angie O’Brien & her husband Alex & their daughter Harper, all of North Liberty; Juli Kennedy & her husband Ryan of Coralville; his mother in law, Beverly Moore of Iowa City; two sisters in law, Angela Nelson & her husband Jim & their children Chloe & Lauren, all of Bettendorf and Jessica Harris & her husband Michael of Eugene, Oregon.

Ted was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father in law Richard Moore and his faithful yellow Labrador Jack.
