Joseph H. Krall, 80, of 2726 Highway 1 NE, Iowa City and a resident of Parkview Manor died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 in Wellman of complications with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, January 19, 2004 at 10:00am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3:00-7:00pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, where the Parish and the Knights of Columbus will recite a rosary at 6PM. Memorials may be directed to the Solon Fire Department or the charity of the donor’s choice. A luncheon at the church hall will follow committal services.

Joe was born January 14, 1924 in Iowa City, the son of Frank and Mae Hotka Krall. He was a graduate of Newport #3 Grade School and Iowa City High School. He married Rita C. Lenoch on August 16, 1949 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City.

Joe, with his wife Rita, have been longtime Johnson County farmers. He was a member of St.Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Marquette Council 842, a social member of the Solon American Legion and Morse Community Club. Joe had served as a trustee for Newport School #3 and had served on the Johnson County Comdemnation Board.

Joe loved to fish, hunt, cook, play cards, especially euchre, do woodworking and was an avid Hawkeye supporter. He especially loved taking his grandchildren fishing and watching them play sports.

Joe is survived by his wife Rita; and their children; Joette Meyer and her husband Jim of Solon and their son Matthew; Mike Krall and his wife Candy of Solon and their children Jeremy, Jamie and Jodie; and Kris Murphy and her husband Don of West Branch and their children Angie and her husband Mike and Luke; one great-granddaughter Alexia; his sisters Dorothy Foraker of Iowa City and Marian Knowling of Coralville; a sister-in-law Marie Krall; and nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ralph, Richard and Donald; a sister Bernice Gough and an infant sister.
