Deborah K. 'Debbie' Primmer age 56 of Cedar Rapids died on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at her home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday January 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the Deborah K. Primmer memorial fund. Online condolences may be sent to her family at www.gayandciha.com.

Debbie was born on June 1, 1947 in Iowa City the daughter of Donald and Lois (Breese) Horstmann. She attended school in Iowa City and graduated from the University of Iowa as a dental hygienist. Debbie gave her time and efforts to many organizations including Habitat for Humanity, caring for foster children and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids where she was a member. She had many talents; her family will cherish their memories of her skills as a cook and gardener, she always gave one hundred percent in anything she did.

For nineteen years she was married to Ernest Primmer they had three children, Sons: Forrest Primmer of Iowa City and Andrew Primmer and his wife and daughter Nicole and Tiffany of Cedar Rapids, daughter: Kathryn Primmer and Jeff Oakley and their daughter Mackenzie of Cedar Rapids, two brothers: Randall and wife Linda Horstmann and Eric and wife Laura Horstmann of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Debbie’s family would like to thank Nancy Nygren a special friend and the entire St. Paul United Methodist Church family for the love and care given to their mother through out the years. The Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Debbie’s family and her services.
