Abel Torres, 58, of Iowa City died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 6pm Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty, where visitation will be from 3pm Sunday until services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Monday at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Abel’s memory. His family includes his children, Christian (Nancy) Torres, Hector (Yessica) Torres, Romario (Sara) Torres and Maurilia Torres; grandchildren, Yareli I. Torres and Hector A. Torres; brothers, Jose Torres and Abdias Torres; numerous nieces and nephews including Isabel Torres, Emmanuel Torres, and George Torres.
