James A. Fisher, 74, of Coralville passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospice.
James was born January 25, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, to James and Arlene Fisher. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids and later enlisted into the United Sates Navy in 1956. On November 11, 1962, James married Sue Martin.
In 1965 James attended the University of Iowa School of Nursing where he obtained his LPN and was a 1971 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City. Following graduation, James worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Iowa Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
James loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed doing Antique shows and was the manager of the W.S. Antique mall in Cedar Rapids. He also enjoyed working at the Sharpless auction house, flower gardening, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Sue, 2 Children, Scott (Lori) Fisher, and Roma (Troy) Byers, his siblings, Joyce Baker, Janice (Ernie) Osborne, and Judd (Virginia) Fisher, his 7 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, and his dear friends, Mary Henry and John (Laura) Martin of Donnellson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joan, his brother in-laws, Joe baker Sr., Darrell Fye, and Lester Martin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Novak, the staff at Mercy Hospice, and Iowa City Hospice.
Per Jims request, there will not be any services. Memorials may be made to the James Fisher fund.
