Frank J. Stroud, age 53 of Des Moines, formerly Iowa City, died, Monday, December 15, 2003 at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2003, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend James Vrba officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Frank’s name. Frank Jay Stroud was born January 10, 1950, in Iowa City, the son of Earl Wesley and Irene Mary (Kelley) Stroud. He graduated from Iowa City City High School. For many years he was employed as a roller operator in road construction. Frank never met a strange or a person he wouldn’t help, always putting others first.

His family includes three children, Jason Stroud of Hills, Angela Diaz and Sara Stroud and their mother Virginia Stroud all of Iowa City, his parents Earl and Irene Stroud of Iowa City; his friend and companion of thirteen years Cindy Stroud of Des Moines, sisters and their husbands, Ginger and Dennis Rost of Manson, Iowa, Terry and Ralph Abbott of Davenport, Diane and Wayne Siems of Coralville, Barbara and Bill Brant of Ankeny, Betty and Larry Staley of Iowa City, Robin and Don Cox of West Branch, and Christine and Rob Mayers of Davenport; brothers, William and his wife, Eunice Stroud of Iowa City, Edward Stroud of Iowa City, and Richard Stroud of Solon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Ron and an Infant daughter Tiffany. The Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Frank’s family and his services.
