Marian M. Edwards, 83 of Williamsburg, formerly a longtime resident of the Oxford area died at her home Saturday, November 10, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at the Oxford United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm on Tuesday at the church in Oxford. A memorial fund has been established in Marian’s memory. Marian Marie Bowersox was born July 20, 1929 at Shueyville, Iowa the daughter of James Richard and Theo (Potter) Bowersox. She attended schools in Shueyville, graduating from high school there in 1948. On April 3, 1949, she married Merlyn R. Edwards at the Shueyville Brethren Church. The couple moved to the Oxford area in 1950 where they farmed. She also had worked at the Merchants National Bank in Cedar Rapids, Nickerson Farms, Colony Village, Colony Haus, and the Ox Yoke Inn all at the Little Amanas. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the UMW of the church, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star; and since moving to Williamsburg had been attending St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Her family includes three sons, Tim (Barb) Edwards of Cedar Rapids; Terry Edwards of Cedar Rapids and Ted (Heidy) Edwards of Amana; six grandchildren, Michael Edwards, Matt Kahler, Nick Edwards, Sandra Edwards, Laura Edwards, and Emily Edwards; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Feilds, Claire Edwards, Braden Brown, Mason Brown, and Kayleigh Brown; and two sisters, Ruth Kloubec of West Chicago, Illinois and Helen Whiting of Waunakee, Wisconsin.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Thomas; two brothers, Howard and Robert; and four sisters, Lois Novotny, Grace Novotny, Irene Turechek, and Lucille Bys.

Gay& Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Oxford and Iowa City is caring for Marian’s family and her services.
