Paul R. Noah, 83, of Iowa City died peacefully on Wednesday, October 17th at Mercy Hospital following a long illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Paul Noah Memorial Fund.
Paul was born September, 17, 1929 in Peck, KS, the son of Fay and Edna (Gore) Noah. He graduated from Victor High School in Victor, IA and later attended The University of Iowa. Following college, Paul served four years in The United States Navy. On December 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dolores Johnson. For over 30 years, Paul worked as a Switchman for The Rock Island Railroad, retiring in 1991. In his spare time, Paul spent the better of 25 years traveling with Dolores to the Yellowstone National Park and the western parts of the United States and was especially fond of their time spent in Utah. He also played the saxophone in The University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band during college, and continued to play for various groups even throughout his retirement.
Survivors include his two sons, Kevin (Erin) Noah of Cedar Rapids and Keith Noah of Iowa City, and a brother-in-law Harold Johnson of Iowa City. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores, a sister Maxine McBride, and brothers-in-law Glen McBride and Ronald Johnson.
