Nellie H. White, 98, of 908 South Clark Street died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at her home of cancer.

Nellie was born September 10, 1905 in Luverne, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Ethel Barnes Beers, She married Matthew White on November 6, 1946. He died in January, 1970.

Nellie had owned a beauty salon in Rock Rapids, Iowa prior to moving to Iowa City in 1947. In Iowa City she had worked at area beauty salons.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose.

She was a very caring person who enjoyed her church, her friends and her involvement with the Iowa City Moose Lodge.

Nellie is survived by nieces and nephews.
