Charles E. Cox (Westfall)

Charles "Charley" E. Cox, a resident of Lacey, WA, passed away November 19, 2003, after his battle with cancer.

Charley was born on August 13, 1923 in Iowa City, Iowa to Jeffry and Bertha (Alberhasky) Westfall. He served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corps as a Technical Sergeant and Motor Transport Chief. He served in the South Pacific, fought in five major battles,and was a very proud veteran. Charley met and married Ruby "Maxine" Lyons on February 24, 1945 in Tacoma, Washington. In 1952 they moved to Arcata, California, where he owned and operated Charley Cox Car Service for 25 years until retiring to Olympia WA to be near their daughter and family in 1977. He enjoyed the U.S. Marine Corps reunons, woodworking, traveling and all of his many friends and extended family -- they were always there for him.

Charley is survived by his loving wife, Maxine; daughter, Charlotte (Phil) Powell; grandsons, Douglas Powell and Gregory (Jessica) Powell; great grandson, Wesley Charles; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jeffry, Lorraine (Bogs), and Richard Westfall.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the many people that took care of Charley, especially his doctors, Hospice, and Olympia Radiology.

Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 5930 Mullen Road S.E., Lacey on Monday, November 24, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. Donations may be made to Assured Home Health and Hospice, 1800 Cooper Point Road, Building 4, Suite A, Olympia, Washington 98502.
