Ruby F. Greazel, 86, formerly of 822 E. Church Street in Iowa City, died Sunday, September 2nd at Solon Nursing Care Center.

Memorial Mass will begin Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. Reverend Michael Phillips will officiate. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or Solon Nursing Care Center. Lensing Funeral Service is handling arrangements.

Ruby was born November 26, 1925 at home in Washington Township near Frytown, the daughter of William and Clara (Bender) Snyder. Ruby married Leo Greazel March 2, 1946 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.

As a young girl, Ruby worked as a florist at Curtis Greenhouse – south of Iowa City on Riverside Drive. She then worked as a nursing assistant at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City and later at the Iowa City Veterans Medical Center. After retiring from the VA, she provided childcare out of her home.

Ruby was a long time member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and enjoyed quilting, antiquing, gardening and camping – especially at Sandy Beach Campground.

Survivors include her children, Norma Finley (Daryle) of Iowa City, William Greazel (Janet) of North Liberty, Cecelia Greazel of Solon and Leo Greazel of the Quad Cities;
grandchildren, Matt, Mark, Ben, Nick, Andy and Jennifer;
great-grandchildren, Ava, Addison, Olivia, Isabella, Sophia, Clay and Juliet;
brothers and sisters, Delbert Snyder of South Carolina, Maggie Boudreau of Brownsville, Texas, Nellie Vitosh of Davenport and John Snyder of Kalona and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo, a grandson Jeffrey Greazel, brothers and sisters, Darlene Peer, Bill Snyder, Arvilla Zook, Andrew Snyder, Verton Snyder, Lucille Snyder, Paul Snyder and Cleo Snyder.

The family wishes to offer their sincere thanks to the staff at Solon Nursing Care Center for the care provided to Ruby over the past three years.
