Nam Hoa Nguyen, 54, of Iowa City died unexpectedly Monday morning at home following a sudden illness.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Thursday, August 16th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Van Phung officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 pm.

Nam was born November 17, 1957 in Viet Nam, the son of Kim Van Nguyen and Hong Nguyen. He married Huyen Hoang in 1986.

Nam was employed at the Riverside Casino.

Survivors include his wife and daughter Kim Nguyen of Iowa City; his father, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, all of Viet Nam; his parent in law, Hien Hoang of Iowa City; sister in laws, Thuy Hoang of Iowa City; Chivo Hoang of Ankeny, Ha Hoang (Minh Do) of Muscatine; nieces and nephews in Geneseo, IL, San Antonio, TX and Ankeny, IA; and his close friends, Phong, Hoang and Thang.

He was preceded in death by his mother and brother in law Trung Hoang.
