Born April 11, 1960, to Miriam (Stevenson) and Jack Young in Iowa City,
Becky graduated from City High school, and earned a BSN from Mt. Mercy College.

She had a passion for nursing that started as a Candy Striper while in junior high and continued as she worked in cardiac intensive care at St Luke’s, and with the Linn County Public Health agency, as well as working with Great Plains Orthotics until illness forced her to retire.

On June 29, 1985 she married Michael Buckman, and together they have two children, Lorraine, studying abroad, and Christopher, studying in Iowa City. She also
foster parented several children who have remained close to her.

Becky enjoyed traveling widely, whether skiing, attending Vespa scooter rallies, or in Europe with her family, and packing up the family for numerous summer camping trips across the U.S.

She had eclectic tastes in music, and she collected many diverse friends and causes dear to her. She was very multi talented, taking great pride in and doing much of the work in major repair projects in both her home and her church.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by siblings Susan Young, Jack(Pam) Young, and Elizabeth (Charles) Young- Ikechukwu, all of Iowa City, numerous
nieces and nephews, and lifelong special friend Lea Ann Knecht of Des Moines.

The family especially thanks the caring staff at Hospice of Mercy, and Oncology Associates in Cedar Rapids for helping her to follow her passions as long as possible.
Taking care of a nurse is not easy.
