Rosemary B. Larsen, 88, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at her home from cancer.

A memorial service will begin Friday at 6:00 pm at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Iowa City.
Pastor Connie Spitzack will officiate. Her family will greet friends Friday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm at the church. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Christ the King Lutheran Church or Iowa City Hospice.

Born October 22, 1923 in Woodbine, Iowa, the daughter of Karl and Bonnie (Kress) Bang,
Rosemary grew up in Sac City. She graduated from Spencer High School and later received a bachelors of science degree from Iowa State University and a masters degree of dietetics from the University of Iowa.

She married Kenneth E. Larsen December 26, 1948 in Spencer. Rosemary worked as the chief therapeutic dietician for University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and then in 1972, served as the Food Service Director for the Iowa City Community School District – retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Christ the King Quilters Club, University Club, Readers Theater, Pilot Club of Iowa City and The American Diatetic Association.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Larsen-Dooley of Iowa City, her son, Eric (Connee) Larsen of Indianola; grandchildren, Colin (Brynna) Dooley and Christopher (Erin) Larsen; great-grandchildren, Annyka Rain Mathes and Karter Kenneth Larsen and a son in law, Kelly Smith of Houston, Texas.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Martha Smith.
