Jack V. Lenz, 78, of rural Lone Tree, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial following at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Lenz Memorial Fund. Jack V. Lenz was born August 26, 1933, on the family farm north of Lone Tree; son of Vernon and Stella (Emmons) Lenz. He lived on the family farm most of his life, graduating from Lone Tree High in 1952. On January 29, 1955, he married Shirley Nicholas.

His family includes his wife, Shirley; daughters, Julie Heiderscheit of Holy Cross, IA and Christine (Lynn) Miller of Walford, IA; grandchildren, Justin (Dawn) Neff, Jerilyn (Jared Garnant) Miller, Jessica Miller and Sabrina Heiderscheit, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat (Don) Brown.
