Tony Eberhart, 81, of Iowa City died Saturday, May 26th at the Solon Care Center.
Committal services will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Ralston, OK. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Solon Care Center. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service.
Tony was born July 20, 1929 in Springfield, MO and raised near Perkins, OK. He married Etta “Joanne” Cummings on July 20, 1949 in Perkins.
Tony was a railroad engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad and a truck driver. They moved from Oklahoma to Davenport, IA, where they lived for 25 years, before returning to Oklahoma. They moved to Iowa City in July 2011. He was a gifted storyteller that captivated listeners and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff at the Solon Care Center for their loving care.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joanne of Solon and their four children, Carol Ann Eberhart of San Antonio, Cheryl Lynn (Chuck) Smith of Iowa City, Martin Anthony Eberhart of Lexington, OK and Melia (Dick) Douglas of Cordell, OK; six siblings, June Hanson of Dalles, OR, Martin (Betty) Eberhart of Davenport,IA, Fred (Eileen) Eberhart and Dixie (Terry) Dooley, both of Yale, OK, Margaret Chaistain of Porter, OK and Dale Eberhart of South Carolina; six grandchildren Amber, Seth, James, Sarah, Cole and Case; six great grandchildren, Sullivan, Jacob, Summer, Mya, Silas and Bryce.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Harold “Gene”, James and Larry.
