Forrest Lee Price (known as Lee) of Iowa City, died May 24, 2012. Private family services will be held for Lee, with burial at Memory Gardens. Online condolences may be sent for the family through the web @www.gayandciha.com.
Lee Price was born August 1, 1930, in Cleveland Ohio. She was the daughter of Forrest and Nellie Gildersleeve. Lee grew up on a farm during the depression and she felt this made her a very practical person throughout her life. After school, Lee won a scholarship to Ohio State where she met her husband, James L. Price. They married in 1950. Lee graduated Ohio State with a degree in teaching. She loved teaching and worked in many states and became a resource teacher working with gifted children. The staff and children loved her hard work and her desire to make things fun. Whatever activities Lee was involved in she did with energy and passion. She loved reading, tennis, golf, needlework, flowers, and bridge. She held many bridge classes at her home and taught countless people how to play. Residents of Iowa City would frequently see her out walking with Jim, hand in hand, having animated discussions about life. He was her constant companion and her best friend. Lee and Jim traveled throughout the world and shared a love of books which always kept conversations interesting. Although Lee had Parkinson Disease for the last 25 years of her life, she refused to let it slow her down and continued traveling, walking, gardening and lived life with a wry wit and held strong opinions about politics, morality, equality and ethics. She could always see the humor in just about anything and loved to laugh.
Lee was predeceased by her husband, James L. Price of Iowa City, IA in 2008. Her family includes: a son, James W. Price of Iowa City, IA.; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Shawn Ashby of Hopedale, MA; granddaughter, Brenna E. Ashby; grandson, Christopher James Ashby; sisters, Dorothy Maijala, Dawn Kazmer and June Reichmann all of Arizona and brother, Bill Gildersleeve of Illinios; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Bickford of Iowa City and Iowa City Hospice for their care and compassion during her illness.
