Cedar Rapids GazetteNathan W. Bedford, 24, of 2871 Irving Ave., died suddenly Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the West High School football field. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Parkview Evangelical Free Church, by the Rev. Christopher Arch. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to the Nathan W. Bedford Memorial Fund.
Nathan was born Sept. 21, 1978, the son of Barry and Roxianne Hick Bedford, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was a West High graduate and he graduated from the Universidty of Iowa. On March 11, 2000, he was united in marriage to Nichole Butters. Nathan was an excellant, hardworking student. He was a member of the National Honor Society. he received a leadership award from Hills Bank. He was a member of Good News Bible Church, where he also taught Sunday school. Nathan was the coach of the Iowa City girls softball and basketball teams. He worked for the University of Iowa as a research assistant. He also was a reserve deputy sheriff with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, which was a great joy of his. His greatest love was his family and his dogs. Nathan loved life and was busy enjoying it.
He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nichole Bedford of Iowa City; a daughter, Alyssa Bedford of Iowa City; his parents, Barry and Roxie Bedford of Coralville; twin brother and sister, Justin Bedford of Coralville and Kirsten Bedfor of Iowa City; mother-in-law, Carol Butters of Iowa City; father-in-law, Boyd Butters and wife Marcia of Central City; grandparents, Warren and Colleen Bedford of West Des Moines and Anna Hick of Ankeny.
