Kathleen "Kathy” Rios 62 of Solon, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at UIHC following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Monday, August 1, 2011 at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin with Rev. Bev. Marshall-Goodell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6pm at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. The family requests that those attending wear casual Hawkeye attire and no ties. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Kathy was born December 31, 1948 in Iowa City, the daughter of Edmund “Ned” and Ada Bowman Langenberg. She was a 1967 graduate of Clear Creek High School. On April 6, 1974 Kathy married Henry Rios Jr. in Iowa City.

Kathy was a technician with Qwest-Century Link Telecommunications for 44 years.

Kathy was a member of the Coralville American Legion Auxiliary and was a union steward for the Communication Workers of America. She liked to bowl, play softball and was an avid supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Solon Spartans and the Kennedy Cougars. Most important to her was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her husband Henry Jr. “Sicos” of Solon and their three children and eight grandchildren, Shelley Costolo (Eric) Jacobus of Palo and their children Devon, Derek, Dalles and Kamae, Daniel (Allison) Rios of Mt. Vernon, TX and their children Jordan, Ana and Mackenzie, and Erik Rios and Kelli Anderson of Dallas, TX and their son Mason; four siblings, Marjorie (Frank) Floerchinger and Rosemary (Bill) Maske, both of West Branch, Ronald (Johnita) Langenberg of Tiffin and Larry Langenberg and Sherri Ellis of Iowa City; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her niece Angie.
