Ralph J. Kasper age 78 of Omaha, Nebraska and formerly of Iowa City died on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at the Hallmark Care Center in Omaha. Visitation will on Saturday, August 30, 2003 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Iowa City. Burial with military rites provided by the Coralville American Legion, Walter Johnson Post #721 with assistance from other local organizations will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent to his family through the Gay and Ciha website @www.gayandciha.com.

Ralph Joseph Kasper was born in Solon, Iowa on September 23, 1924 the son of Frank A. and Anna J. (Kessler) Kasper. He attended schools in Coralville and North Liberty graduating from City High School in Iowa City. Ralph served his country in the Air Force during WWII. He worked for the Crandic Railroad as a ticket agent and Joe’s Place in downtown Iowa City as a bartender.

His family includes two daughters: Patty and husband, Ray Sporn of Elk Horn, Nebraska, Anna and husband, Duayne Haessler of LeClaire, Iowa, Grandchildren: Nadia Kasper and significant other, Chris Staton, Tiphanie Kundert, J.R. Kundert, Cathy Redmond and husband, Louis, Anna Marie Haesler, Steven Haessler and wife, Machelle, great-grandchildren: Maggie St Cross, Alex Kasper, Molly Kasper, Brittany Redmond, L.J. Redmond, Taylor Redmond, Keanu Haessler, Alexandra Haessler and Dewey Haessler two sisters: Delma and Wilma Kasper of Iowa City, one brother: Ken and wife, Alice Kasper of Iowa City, four step daughters: Dee and husband, Jeff Stratton of Homestead, Jan Kincade of Iowa City, Kim Hesseltine of Iowa City, Shirley Neuzil of Coralville, fourteen step-grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren.

His parents, two wives, an infant sister Mary Louise and a step-daughter Bea Kahler preceded him in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for Ralph’s services and his family.
