Shirley J. Devine, 84, of Iowa City, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 1p.m. Friday at the Glendale Cemetery in Le Claire, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent to Shirley's family through the web @www.gayandciha.com.

Shirley Hall Devine was born December 10, 1926; daughter of James W. and Mildred Taylor Hall in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended school in Des Moines graduating from East High School in 1944. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Drake University in 1948, and taught school in Des Moines. She married George Kerr Devine in Iowa City February 5, 1949. They were parents of three sons - G.K. of Lawton, OK, Jim of Shellsburg and Randy of Iowa City.

Shirley is survived by her three sons, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother, Bob Hall and numerous extended family.
