Jocelyn A. “Joie” Johnson, 74, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Memorial Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, June 29 at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City.
Jocelyn was born on June 1, 1937 in Marquette, MI, the daughter of Lester and Jeanette (Brown) Carter. Around the age of 10, Jocelyn moved with her family to Williston, ND, where she later graduated from Williston High School in 1955. On March 31, 1956, Jocelyn married John Johnson in Williston.
Joie enjoyed painting and working on crafts in her free time. She also liked to golf, travel (especially to any ocean), and to collect various items. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her husband John of North Liberty, two daughters: Lisa Potts of North Liberty and Misty (Jason) Lee of Oxford, IA; three sisters: Sandy (Myron) Maker of Chatfield, MN, Patricia (Robert) Kurtz of Coleman, AL and Debbie (Larry) Simon of Denver, CO; two grandchildren: Chris (Carrie) Lee of North Liberty and Jennifer Lee of Tiffin; and one great-granddaughter Brooklyn Lee.
Jocelyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Bruce Carter
