Jeffrey Scott Pilkington, 36 of 419 Woodridge Avenue, Iowa City died Thursday, July 17, 2003 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services are being planned for a later date with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in Jeff’s memory. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Jeff’s family and his services.

Jeff was born on November 7, 1966 in Iowa City, attending Iowa City Schools. Jeff had worked for Tracy Vikel of Reasonable Rates Sanitation Service and Naughton Drywall Company.

His family includes his mother and stepfather, Edyie and Robert Stika of Iowa City; grandmother, Julianne Pirtle of Ames, three uncles and eight cousins; special beloved companions, his kitties, Sarah, Sammy and Heidi, whom he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his beloved great-grandmother, Laura Pinet; brother, Mike; grandfather, Dr. Eugene Pirtle; and aunt, Margaret LaTour.

Jeff will always be remembered as a kind and thoughtful person, who loved his many friends and his family.

Jeff’s family wishes to thank the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Cancer Center, especially Dr. Jeffrey Spiess and Pat and Iowa City Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care for Jeff through his illness.
