David D. Mitchell, 75, of North Liberty died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at home following a brief illness.
Family and friends will celebrate David’s life from 4 to 6pm Friday March 18th at Lensing Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, where a brief service of remembrance will be held at 6pm. Burial will be at a later date at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty. In lieu of flowers friends may contribute to the charity of their choice.
David was born May 22, 1935 in Cedar Rapids, the son of David and Lorraine Dieman Mitchell. David was a graduate of the University of Iowa, the UI College of Law and had served in the Korean War. On September 30, 1988 he married Mary K. Thomann in Cedar Rapids.
David was a longtime Cedar Rapids attorney. He enjoyed playing the banjo, collecting vintage cars and was a pilot of experimental aircraft. David was a hunter and avid Hawkeye fan.
David is survived by his wife, Mary K. of North Liberty; three children, Melissa McCauley of Lawrence, KS, Angela Newberry of Cedar Rapids and Allen Yordi of North Liberty; and eight grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
